Ghostcat Medienproduktion shot material in Sweden. We must not tell what about, though: business secret. In the editing room, the foreign language material needs to be edited, and therefore, it must be understood what’s being said.

Bochert Translations translated the spoken Swedish text into German written text.

RESPUBLICA

In July, the Kammerspiele Munich present the immersive, six-hour performance RESPUBLICA byŁukasz Twarkowski and the ensemble. The production is based on an exciting social experiment.

The translation of the German supertitles for this show was accomplished by Bochert Translations in collaboration with Arneta Aley (Lithuanian titles) and Sprachspiel.

CASCADE by Jim Grimsley

In Jim Grimsley’s new play, a daughter and her father travel north from the South of the U.S. in the near future to escape from the uninhabilitable hot regions there. On their way, they meet another partial family and finally decide to travel on together into an uncertain future.

In a dense and threatening atmosphere, the play approaches the migration aspect of the climate catastrophy, postulating that we will only be able to master this troublesome journey with the help of trust and solidarity.

The German translation from English was accomplished by Henning Bochert.

FLÄCHENBRAND (WILDFIRE ROAD) by Eve Leigh

After the German translation of Eve Leigh’s MIDNIGHT MOVIE was presented as a staged reading by Verena Regensburger at the Stückemarkt of the Theatertreffen 2021, the Rowohlt Theaterverlag commissioned the translation of Leigh’s text WILDFIRE ROAD. We just delivered this under the title FLÄCHENBRAND. The German premiere is scheduled for September 2022.

Documentary Algeria

With numerous shooting days in the south of Algeria, Vincent Productions moves to risky and complex ground. The material created there needs to be translated from the Berber language Tamazhigt and an Algerian dialect of French into German. Bochert Translation coordinates these translation services.

AGNUS

In the futuristic world of the play AGNUS by Ise Lyfe and Matt Werner, there are officially no more prisons on the north American continent. Instead, Agnus Eli is held as a suspect in a secret prison on a boat offshore after the unsolved murder of the governor of California. The play tells the story of assessor Richard and his attempts to understand the mysterious character of Agnus and the murder. Needless to say, everything turns out completely different in the end.

The play was translated from English into German by Henning Bochert and will be rehearsed and presented at a prison in June 2021.

DISPLACED (MORGENLAND)

Adn once again, In Good Company have developed a wonderful script together wiht Ross Dungan. In DISPLACED, an adaptation of Stephan Abarbanell’s novel MORGENLAND, it is in 1946 when Lilya travels from the dusty streets of Jerusalem to post-war Berlin:

Lilya, a young activist fighting for an independent state of Israel, is sent to Germany to find out about the whereabouts of a missing Jewish scientist. Thus begins a risky journey for the sensitive and strong-headed Lilya which not only brings to light political implications that would put pressure on the British rule in Palestine; while getting closer to the truth, she starts questioning her own mission …
